Four wideband vertical transitions between transmission lines for multilayer benzocyclobutene‐based multichip module are presented for the first time. Their back‐to‐back configurations are designed and fabricated. The RF transition characteristics are simulated, measured, and analyzed. The measurement results reveal minor differences between these transitions, and low return loss and insertion loss can be obtained up to 40 GHz. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
