Dielectric measurements have been made on a silt soilboard with three moisture contents and different densities using a short monopole probe at microwave frequencies. A detailed analysis has been made to obtain the variation law of the real permittivity with the volumetric moisture content and the dry density of the soil studied. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
