This article describes the first optical mixing procedures for 60 GHz transmission of UWB signals, using an optical fiber for the long haul transmission and photodiode (PD)‐based up‐conversion of the UWB signal on a 60 GHz frequency carrier for picocellular network. Results show acceptable error vector magnitude (EVM) of less than 10% after optical up‐conversion. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
