A novel method for multiplexing intensity‐type fiber‐optic sensors using wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and spatial division multiplexing (SDM) is proposed and demonstrated. A variation of ±0.2 dB at a loss of −10.95 dB is obtained, which is comparable with that obtained by the traditional method. The experimental results show that the sensor at the up‐leading fiber has no influence on the sensor at the down‐leading fiber. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
