This article is concerned with a novel microstrip EBG structure, formed by etching a shape into the signal line. Previous publications announced a lumped‐element equivalent circuit for the structure. This article gives simple equations for computing the equivalent circuit element values. The article also announces an effective EBG low‐pass filter. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
