Abstract In this article, the design and analysis of a CPW‐fed UWB antenna with dual band‐notched characteristics are presented. The measured bandwidth defined by VSWR <2 of the proposed antenna is from 2.8 to 11.7 GHz, except the bandwidths of 3.35–4.35 GHz for WiMAX and C‐band satellite communication, together with 5.2–5.9 GHz for WLAN. Moreover, this novel monopole antenna exhibits a nearly omnidirectional radiation pattern in the H‐plane and a dipole‐like radiation pattern in the E‐plane. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
