In this article, a novel Y‐loop frequency‐selective surface (FSS) is proposed based on substrate‐integrated waveguide (SIW) technology. This novel Y‐loop FSS is analyzed by Ansoft HFSS simulation tool. It can be observed that the proposed Y‐loop aperture FSS has higher selectivity for reducing the relative bandwidth about 5%, and more stable bandwidth at different polarization states and in various incident directions compared with the conventional Y‐loop FSS. The effectiveness of the novel Y‐loop aperture FSS is validated by good agreement between the simulated results and the measured results. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
