Metallic waveguides can be constructed with sidewalls consisting of metallic rods instead of sheets. The attenuation constants and bandwidths of such waveguides are calculated for a fixed cutoff frequency while the radii of the metallic rods are varied. The propagation losses are found to decrease when the radii of the rods is increased. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
