In this article, we have described a novel ultra‐wideband (UWB) monopole antenna with two symmetrical strips for wireless UWB communications. The proposed antenna consists of a center monopole, two symmetrical strips having one step on the strip, and CPW feeding. Three techniques (one monopole and two strips, symmetrical structure, and step on the strip) are used to produce the multiple resonance and low dispersion. The proposed UWB antenna has an omnidirectional radiation pattern, UWB, compact size, almost flat gain and linear phase, and low cost. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
