In this article, a novel CPW‐fed broadband asymmetrical slot antenna is proposed. The prototype consists of an asymmetrical slot and a tuning stub. From experimental results, the measured impedance bandwidth of this antenna, defined by −10 dB return loss, can reach an operating bandwidth of 6.63 GHz (2.27–8.9 GHz), or about 118.7% with the center frequency operating at 5.585 GHz. Also, good radiation patterns and gains covering the operating band have been observed. Details of the antenna design and experimental results are discussed in this article. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
