A compact multiband internal antenna has been proposed for multistandard personal communication handsets. The antenna simultaneously covers various frequency bands such as GSM, DCS, PCS, UMTS, WiBro, Bluetooth, S‐DMB, and WLAN. Total volume of the antenna is 0.78 cm 3 (2.6 cm × 1.5 cm × 0.2 cm) that makes it attractive for multiband slim handsets. Measured performances of the prototype antenna are acceptable at all the targeted frequency bands. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
