This article describes a symmetric capacitor‐compensated microstrip directional‐coupler design with very high directivity. The compensation capacitors are incorporated between the coupling lines as interdigital type on the PCB board. The prototype directional‐coupler shows 19.6 dB coupling factor and achieves very high directivity of more than 45 dB at 1.9 GHz. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
