A linearly polarized electrically long rectangular patch antenna fed by a meandering probe is presented. By increasing the width of a patch antenna to 1.05λ 0 , the gain of the antenna can be increased. The antenna has an impedance bandwidth of 26% (SWR < 1.5), a gain of 11.2 dBi, and a crosspolarized level less than −15 dB across the operating bandwidth. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
