In this study, a new method is introduced to reduce the splitting error in the ADI‐FDTD method using iterative method. The proposed method includes two procedures. First we solve the procedure of ADI‐FDTD method and secondly a new iterative scheme is adopted. The improvement of reduced splitting error is investigated by numerical examples. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
