In this article, a bandpass filter with a wide stopband is proposed for the wireless local area network (WLAN) system. The filter is mainly composed of a dual‐mode bandpass filter (DM‐BPF) and a controllable bandstop structure (CBS). By using the CBS, multiple transmission zeros can be located on the spurious responses of the DM‐BPF. The design procedure is discussed in detail in this article. The designed filter is fabricated and measured. Measured results have a good agreement with the simulated results. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
