A single microstrip‐fed compact reconfigurable circularly polarized (CP) microstrip antenna with variable asymmetric cross slots using PIN diodes is proposed. It can be implemented by unequal length of cross slots on the patch, which are switched on and off using PIN diodes. Right hand circular polarization (RHCP) is obtained as diode‐off, while left hand circular polarization (LHCP) is excited when diodes are on. This proposed antenna can be switched flexibly under the changeable environment of wave propagation and used in the system required polarization diversity. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
