Novel U‐shaped strip‐slot printed antenna for triple‐frequency operation

This article proposed a design of a U‐shaped strip‐slot antenna for GSM900/DCS1800/WLAN/Bluetooth applications. The proposed antenna was fabricated on FR4 substrate and fed by 50‐Ω coaxial cable. The proposed antenna was first cut into U‐shaped strip to operate at higher frequency of 2.4 GHz for WLAN/BlueTooth applications. Furthermore, the other operation bands‐900 MHz and 1800 MHz for GSM900/DCS1800 applications have been achieved by inserted symmetric U‐shaped slot into the ground plane. Simulated and measured results are shown below. Details of the proposed antenna configuration and experimental results are also discussed. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
