A printed circular‐ring monopole antenna with band‐notched feature for UWB application has been presented and investigated. The band‐notched characteristic is achieved by inserting a circular arc slot on the ring radiator. Experimental results show that the proposed antenna meets the requirement of wide‐working bandwidth of 3.1–10.6 GHz with VSWR <2, while avoiding the interference with the 5 GHz WLAN band. The transfer functions of the antenna systems are given experimentally, and the parametric studies are performed numerically in this article. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
