A wideband microstrip filter composed of split‐ring resonator DGS and lumped chip capacitor is presented in this article, which has a transmission zero at the right out‐of‐band. By using the equivalent‐circuit analysis and parameter extracting technology for the split‐ring resonator DGS, a band‐pass filter with a wide passband from 1 GHz to 2.4 GHz is fabricated and measured, making use of lumped chip capacitors and T‐shaped open‐circuit stub to achieve series and shunt capacitance, respectively. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
