We show how a wire inverted‐F antenna can be made more compact without significant alteration of its impedance and radiation characteristics. Two modified inverted‐F antennas, one in air and another with solid dielectric casing, were computer‐simulated for the 2.4‐GHz band and their input match loss and bandwidth were validated experimentally. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
