In this article, a novel miniaturized hybrid ring operating at 2 GHz is presented. By replacing the 270° branch line of conventional hybrid ring by −90° left‐handed branch line realized by complementary split ring resonators (CSRRs), the occupied area of our proposed hybrid ring can be reduced by 60% from that of the conventional one. The performances are demonstrated by simulated and measured results, which are in good agreement. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
