Long and thick dipoles are presented, with a feeding point located off the centre. Parameter studies are performed, showing that asymmetric radiation patterns with a main lobe in a preferred direction can be achieved. Experimental results confirm the feasibility of these antennas and illustrate possible applications. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
