A compact planar broadband millimeter‐wave antenna is presented in this article. The proposed millimeter‐wave (MM‐W) antenna is realized by connecting two pairs of open loop ring resonators (OLRRs). A tapered transmission line is adopted to improve the return loss performance in the required band. Combining these two structures, a new broadband MM‐W antenna is obtained. The measured results show that the proposed MM‐W antenna has a wide bandwidth from 26 to 40 GHz, and all the return losses are less than −15 dB in this band combined with excellent radiation characteristics. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
