In this paper, we propose a multi‐band internal monopole type antenna for mobile station. We design and implement the multi‐band internal monopole type antenna for cellular (824–894 MHz), GPS (Global Positioning System: 1575.42 MHz), K‐PCS (Korea‐Personal Communication Service: 1750–1870 MHz), and S‐DMB (Satellite‐Digital Multimedia Broadcasting: 2630–2655 MHz) frequency bands with three branch lines. The antenna size of example design is 42.5 mm × 7 mm × 6.5 mm. Ground size is 67 mm × 42 mm, and the proposed antenna is located at 3 mm away from the top portion of ground plane. The proposed antenna shows a monopole‐like radiation pattern. Measured peak gains are −1.63 dBi at 0.859 GHz, 1.76 dBi at 1.575 GHz, 3.89 dBi at 1.810 GHz, and 5.57 dBi at 2.642 GHz. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
