A double sided sickle‐shape printed dipolar antenna optimized using genetic algorithm is proposed. The proposed antenna has a wide impedance bandwidth and small variations in radiation pattern and gain across the entire UWB frequency range. This can be used in multi‐band, OFDM and impulse radio modulation schemes, making it suitable for UWB triple mode use. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
