Determination of cross‐coupled filters order and transmission zeroes is the foundation of advanced filters designs. This article presents a novel and effective method to determine them in terms of general Chebyshev filters extreme characteristics and given specifications. All of combinations of them can be obtained and positions of transmission zeroes can be optional. It makes up the casualness of selecting them and is more convenient for practical filters designs. Three application examples illustrate the procedure and the validity of this method. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
