A novel design method of ultra wideband filter based on the composite right‐/left‐handed transmission line theory is presented in this article. Defected ground structure and microstrip interdigital capacitor are introduced to satisfy the necessity of ultra wideband (UWB) filter. A four‐cell composite right/left‐handed UWB filter is fabricated and measured. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
