In this article, a novel concept of electromagnetic band‐gap (EBG) antenna is proposed: dual/multiple band antenna resonances can be achieved using a single patch radiator based on layered EBG substrates. The generalized design procedure is presented. Experimental results demonstrate good agreement with the theoretical prediction and numerical results. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
