The UTD method with the source on convex surface which is usually used in the analysis and design of antennas especially conformal arrays on electrically large platforms is studied in this article where NURBS is introduced as way of modeling. Together with the information from ray‐tracing done before, the calculation of fields is presented which includes direct field in the lit region and creeping ray field in the shadow region. The method can be applied to arbitrary electrically large targets and the usefulness can be seen in the examples given. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
