In this article, the synthesis process of a 3D wire antenna with a tree‐like shape and operating at three different frequency bands (L 1 –L 2 GPS bands and Wi‐Fi) is described. By exploiting the degrees of freedom of the reference tree geometry, the electrical project constraints are fitted by optimizing the antenna shape through a particle swarm‐based optimization procedure. Both numerical and experimental assessments confirm effectiveness of the synthesis procedure. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
