Most of numerous available measurement techniques of microwave dielectric property are static measurement, and their specimen preparations are complex and tedious. In this article, a novel trapezoidal groove guide sensor for achieving continuous measurement is designed, and has been applied in measuring the moisture of the granular materials. Rigid theoretical formulas have been educed. The measured experimental cures are in good agreement with the theoretical curves. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
