A very compact antenna with magnetic dipole radiation properties is presented. It is horizontally polarized HP with low cross polarization level XPR, it has omnidirectional radiation with a very low ripple in the azimuth cut plane. With a compact design (quarter wavelength square) it is suitable for integration into small WLAN devices. When combined with other radiating elements, this antenna offers new opportunities for diversity system deployment. This antenna can be equally used for propagation channel characterization as a reference for horizontally polarized waves. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
