A spiral antenna with a helix loaded is investigated in this paper. Through combining the spiral with a helix together, circular polarization can be achieved in dual bands. Since the helix is loaded in the lower part of the spiral, this technique doesn't increase the antenna's volume but at the same time introduces another CP band. The experimental result shows that the lower band and upper band are 4.0% and 62.07% respectively. The characteristics of impedance, current distribution and radiation pattern will also be presented. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
