A novel wideband bandpass filter for ultra‐wideband system application is proposed, designed, and implemented on the basis of a modified stepped impedance resonator structure. The modified stepped impedance resonator can not only generate multiple‐resonant peaks within the ultra‐wideband passband but also easily realize a tight coupling with the feed‐lines. Both simulation and measurement results are presented and they are in good agreement. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
