In this letter, a new and explicit matrix input impedance formula for the H‐shaped microstrip patch antenna with a probe feed together with new coupling impedance formulas are presented. A compact H‐shaped antenna operating at 2.45 GHz has been designed and tested. Good agreement for the input impedance and the return loss has been obtained for the predicted, simulated, and measured results. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
