Using an efficient equivalent circuit approach, the performance of a PCS ceramic monoblock filter under dimensional and material variations is thoroughly investigated. Graphs are used to understand how perturbations in the filter geometry affect the equivalent circuit and filter performance. It is noted that the critical tolerances are associated with the dielectric constant and resonator length. It follows that this method provides an efficient route to adjusting the filter design for a new specification without having recourse to costly electromagnetic solvers. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
