This article presents the design and realization of a compact 4×4 Butler Matrix for feeding a smart antenna array. The circuit using size reduced elements together with a novel topology occupies only 29% of the size of a conventional Butler Matrix without any loss in performance. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
