A novel all‐fiber multipoint velocity interferometer system for any reflectors (VISAR) is developed and demonstrated. The setup employs single‐mode fibers and fiber couplers to create more probing ports based on the all‐fiber VISAR. A time division multiplexing scheme is implemented to align the interfering signals of different points in time sequence. A prototype two‐point all‐fiber VISAR is established and used to measure velocities on the same specimen impacted by the split Hopkinson pressure bar. A preliminary experiment results show good matches with the expected theoretical performance. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
