A uniplanar printed antenna consisting of the series‐fed dipole elements and the conductor‐backed coplanar waveguide‐to‐coplanar stripline (CBCPW‐to‐CPS) transition with broad impedance bandwidth and end‐fire radiation is presented. The measured results of the antenna indicate the operating bandwidth of 100% under the 10 dB return loss criterion and the end‐fire radiation patterns with 4.5–9.1 dBi peak gain. Mutual couplings between two series‐fed dipole antennas placed in face‐to‐face as well as side‐by‐side configurations with different separations are measured. The diversity of the array system is characterized by the correlation coefficient based on mutual coupling between antennas. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
