In this paper, a novel Wilkinson power divider utilizing left‐handed transmission lines (LHTLs) is presented. The proposed device was fabricated by using the lumped L–C (−λ/4) LHTLs instead of the right‐handed transmission lines branch arms of the conventional Wilkinson power divider. Both the measured and simulated results show that the designed power divider has a wide bandwidth of return loss and isolation, and its size is 50% smaller than conventional Wilkinson power dividers. The measured results are good well with the simulated ones. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
