A simple CAD formula is obtained in this paper for microstrip line on lossy substrate of two layers (silicon‐oxide and silicon) by synthetic asymptote. The formulas are simple, accurate (error <2%) and therefore give good physical insights. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
