Abstract A novel bandpass filter using a dual‐mode square‐patch resonator is proposed in this article. The input and the output of the filter are constructed on a coplanar‐waveguide (CPW) and a microstrip line, respectively. Therefore, a transition of CPW/microstrip may be simultaneously realized by using the filter. The filter has been investigated numerically and experimentally. Results show that the minimum insertion loss in the passband of the filter is about 2.1 dB and its out‐of‐band rejection level is below −23 dB. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
