In this paper, a novel printed antenna is presented, which achieves broadband features through a dipole with parasitic element fed by a new microstrip Balun. Experimental result shows that the impedance bandwidth is 49.5% for VSWR ≤1.5, and the cross polarization level is better than −21 dB over the entire frequency band, and it should find wide application in radar and wireless communication systems. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
