A new reduced‐size broad‐band resonator is introduced. Two pairs of inclined‐radial butterfly stubs are connected at vertex of each other to form the resonator. The size of this band‐stop resonator is about 50% of a conventional two‐stub resonator. The scattering parameters are also improved, comparing to ordinary band‐stop resonators. The improvements of S 11 (<20 dB), S 12 (<3 dB), and S 13 (<40 dB) are 73.68, 16.67, and 55.55%, respectively. The theoretical results are in good agreement with measurements. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
