A novel and simple printed dual‐band monopole antenna is presented. Printed on a single laminate dielectric substrate and easily fed by using a coplanar waveguide (CPW) stripline, a thin, low‐profile, and flexible antenna structure with two symmetrical S‐like meandered strips of same size, capable of generating two separate resonant modes, is achieved. Prototypes of the proposed antenna, including mounted on two different curved solid structures, have been constructed and tested. Good impedance matching in a wide dualband covering 2.4/5‐GHz WLAN operating standard has been obtained, along with good radiation performance and antenna gain over the entire frequency range. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
