A dual‐frequency patch antenna with an inset feed in presented and discussed. It is demonstrated that by cutting two slots into one of the radiating edges of a microstrip patch antenna, a dual‐frequency response with a frequency ratio from 1.03 to 2.0 can be achieved. It is also shown that this design is less sensitive to feed position, which allows the use of an inset planar feed. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
