This paper presents a theoretical model of the differential‐mode operation of unbalanced pairs and a method for its characterization. A differential pair having temporal imbalance is characterized using S ‐parameter representations. Measurements in the frequency domain are performed. These measurements validate the proposed theoretical model. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
