A novel method for circular‐birefringence calculation is proposed. The method is based on analysis of the curvature of a 3D curve (Stokes curve). The 3D curve segments are defined by a series of points that represent states of polarization. The obtained results indicate that the analysis of the curvature permits us to estimate the values of circular birefringence. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
