Abstract A novel microstrip bandpass filter using a dual‐mode square‐ring resonator is presented in this paper, in which the input/output microstrip lines are arranged under the square‐ring to improve the coupling between the microstrip lines and the square‐ring. The filter has been investigated numerically and experimentally. The measured result shows that the filter has a minimum insertion loss of 1.5 dB inside its passband and the out‐of‐band rejection level of below −26 dB. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
