This paper deals with spatial and time refinement using the FDTD‐3D method. An original methodology is presented in which time refinement and spatial refinement with a ratio of two are performed in two separated stage. It aims to simplify algorithms of refinement schemes and to better control the stability and reflection. In particular, a simple time‐refinement scheme is proposed with stability over a long time. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
